Governing the sport.
Globally.

Founded in 1986 by a coalition of technology sports pioneers in Seoul, South Korea, the World VR Lasertag Association is the sole internationally recognised governing body for competitive VR Lasertag. We establish the global rulebook, certify equipment, license referees, and sanction all World Championship events.

The WVRLA Official Rulebook (currently v14.2) is the sole binding framework for all sanctioned competition worldwide.

장비 인증 — Equipment Certification
All hardware used in WVRLA events must carry WVRLA-CE certification. We maintain a public register of approved systems.

The WVRLA World Championship is held annually in a different host nation. Bielefeld, Germany hosts the 2026 edition.

공식 규정 — Official Regulations

The WVRLA
Rulebook v14.2

All WVRLA-sanctioned events are governed by the Official Rulebook. The following principles are binding for all member nations and certified events.

ART. 1
Team Composition
Each team shall consist of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 registered players. A minimum of 2 players must be active on the arena floor at any time during a match.
ART. 2
Equipment Standards
Only WVRLA-CE certified VR hardware may be used in sanctioned competition. Host operators must submit equipment certification at least 30 days prior to the event.
ART. 3
Championship Format
World Championship events shall follow the WVRLA Standard Format: a round-robin league phase followed by a knockout phase for the top-ranked teams.
ART. 4
Scoring
League phase: Victory = 3 points, Draw = 1 point, Loss = 0 points. In the knockout phase, matches are decided by single-game elimination. No draws permitted.
ART. 5
Age Eligibility
All registered players must be of legal age as defined by the host nation's jurisdiction. No minimum age restriction applies to tournament participation.
ART. 6
Fair Play
The WVRLA upholds a strict Fair Play Code. Any unsporting conduct, equipment tampering or violation of the Code results in immediate disqualification.
